A new era for The Eatery. Construction is underway.

The Eatery, The University of Pittsburgh’s largest dining facility, will undergo a complete transformation, evolving into an industry-leading dining facility, boasting ten independent concepts and modern integrations designed to offer an unparalleled dining experience. The renovation will be completed in a  phased construction approach with The Eatery continuing to be open for service. Dining concepts will go offline and reactivated in segments throughout the 2023-2024 academic year.

In partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, surveys were conducted to understand the experiences that students are looking for. All of these new dining concepts will offer made-to-order menu items, making The Eatery feel like a modern, fast-casual restaurant galley trending in urban areas rather than a traditional dining hall.


The enhanced Eatery will be designed with community in mind. Seating arrangements will foster an environment for students to gather, socialize, study, and enjoy a meal. Pop-up installations will allow for game-day watch-parties, movie nights, karaoke, and interactive Teaching Kitchens hosted by the talented Pitt Eats culinarians.

The new Eatery space will feature an array of dining destinations intended to appeal to each and every student’s dietary preferences; ranging from classic American comfort food, diverse cultural offerings, an enhanced allergen-friendly station, and locally-sourced, plant-forward options. Halal-certified proteins will be offered at all dining destinations.

Table 33 represents the 33 states in Latin America - incorporating flavors and cuisines from each. Featuring daily menu offerings that include house-made tortillas, churrasco-style house-roasted proteins, fresh-pressed juices and agua frescas.

Kokumi translates to “rich taste“ or “delicious” and is believed by some to represent the 6th taste.

Kokumi is a Western-Asian inspired station, featuring Halal-certified proteins, and open-flame, wok-tossed campus favorites like General Tsos and Lo Mein, and Middle Eastern staples like Grilled Kebab, Beef Tagine, and House-Made Hummus.

The Briny Pickle is your new “corner-deli” where the options are endless when ordering your own custom-made sandwiches and salads.

Also featured, are house-made soups, and local artisanal breads.

Food Truck is an American comfort food station serving favorites such as corn dogs, mac and cheese, french fries, and onion rings. Daily features include Halal-certified beef hamburgers and hand-spun milkshakes.

Unwind is a brand new coffee shop location specializing in local, hand-crafted specialty beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches, local pastries, and creamy gelato!

Cucina ●

Cucina is back, and better than ever. Featuring rustic and old world-inspired flavors, hand-tossed pizzas, and made-to-order pasta options like Carbonara and Penne Alla Vodka utilizing fresh-made pasta with classic and local ingredients.

Farm Stand ●

Farm Stand is a Plant-Forward and Climate-Friendly station aimed to provide an enhanced experience for our students who follow Vegan, Vegetarian, and Pescatarian lifestyle diets.

Partnerships with local farmers, and utilizing our robotic micro-green farms, ensures the freshest possible produce for this Farm-to-Table station.

Flourish, our allergen-friendly station, features a rotation of menu items devoid of the nine common allergens: Milk, Egg, Peanut, Soy, Wheat, Tree Nut, Shellfish, Fish, and Sesame

All menu items are prepared in a safe, dedicated kitchen and cooking facility.

The Delicatessen ●

The Delicatessen is our all-new dedicated Kosher space for continued local partnership with Elegant Edge Catering – and enhanced equipment allowing for an expanded menu.

Some daily offerings include homemade Lox Bagels, Matzo Ball Soup, Pastrami Sandwiches, and Chicken Shawarma.

Construction Timeline

From Fall 2023 until the project’s completion, The Eatery will operate in phases, with stations closing down and new ones replacing them. Each station that closes down will be accommodated with additional outfitted stations in The Eatery and other spaces on campus, ensuring that the value of the dining program remains consistent.
